Building Energy Ratings (BER)

What is A BER RATING?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) is a rating of how energy efficient your home is. This is calculated through energy use for space and hot water heating, ventilation and lighting.

This scale runs from A to G, A being the most energy efficient and G being the least. You will be provided with a certificate and advisory report upon completion.

wHY ARE BER RATINGS IMPORTANT?

BER ratings are now compulsory for anyone renting or selling a home and the onus is on the homeowner to have the BER assessment carried out.

They are also the first port of call to see where your energy rating lies before making efficiency improvements.

Your advisory report will advice on where improvements can be made to cut down on energy use and therefore, saving money on energy bills.

HOW DO I FIND THE BER RATING OF MY HOME?

One of our BER assessors will come out and carry out an assessment of your home. This will include a room by room survey noting things like window type, areas, number of light fittings and bulb types.

It will take a couple of hours for our assessor to carry out the survey. This information will then be used to calculate your BER rating and produce a report advising where upgrades can be made.

We can carry out BER assessments in Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Roscommon & Leitrim. Book yours today!
