Thermal Imaging
What is thermal imaging?
Thermal imaging renders the infrared given off by a body into an image. The hotter the object the more infrared radiation is given off.
The thermal image displays the different levels of infrared as different colours making it clear to see which surfaces are hot and which are cooler.
How is this used in buildings?
Thermal Imaging surveys can help check the thermal performance of a building envelope. It allows us to assess the amount of heat lost through the walls of the building.
It can be used to check the integrity of a buildings insulation, identify water leaks, locate areas of thermal bridging and show areas of air leakage.
How can this benefit me?
With energy costs constantly rising it is more important than ever to keep cold air out and warm air in.
Up to 60% of a dwellings heat loss can be lost through a buildings envelope. The more of this that can be stopped escaping, the more money can be saved on energy bills.
